Respite Services/Short Term Accommodation
Caring Support for You, Peace of Mind for Loved Ones
At Transition Life Care, we understand that everyone needs a break sometimes — whether you’re a carer who needs time to rest and recharge, or an individual seeking a change of scenery, new experiences, or extra support.

Our Respite Services are here to provide safe, high-quality care when you or your loved ones need it most.

What is Respite?
Respite care is short-term, temporary support that allows primary carers to take a break while ensuring the person they care for continues to receive the support they need in a safe and comfortable environment.

For NDIS participants, respite may also be referred to as Short-Term Accommodation (STA) and is designed to provide:

  • New opportunities for social connection
  • A break from the regular routine
  • Increased independence and confidence
  • Relief and rest for families and carers
What We Offer
At Transition Life Care, our respite services are flexible and person-centred. We tailor our support to your goals, preferences, and care requirements.

Our respite options include:

  • In-home respite: Our trained support workers come to your home, allowing you to remain in familiar surroundings while receiving quality care.
  • Community-based respite: We support outings, day activities, and skill-building opportunities while giving your carer a break.
  • Referrals to trusted STA providers: If you’re seeking overnight or multi-day respite outside the home, we can connect you with reliable Short-Term Accommodation partners across the Gold Coast and Northern NSW.
How Respite Can Help
  • Offers carers a chance to rest, travel, or attend to personal needs
  • Supports participants with routine continuity and trusted care
  • Builds social skills, independence, and confidence through community engagement
  • Allows individuals to try new environments or experiences in a safe, supported way
Whether planned or on short notice, we’re here to support your respite needs with flexibility and compassion.
Who Can Access Respite?
Respite (STA) may be suitable for:
  • NDIS participants with support needs, including children, adolescents, and adults
  • Carers needing temporary relief
  • Families looking to maintain long-term sustainability in their caregiving roles
If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible for respite through your NDIS plan, our team can help you understand your funding and explore the right options.
